happy birthday to sabs...
Today was sabs's birthday, and I took it upon myself to make her a one-of-a-kind present.
Nothing says "I love you" to your girl quite like making a custom stuffed hippo, complete with spiked collar, that farts when you squeeze it. Modeled after Bert the Farting Hippo from the TV show NCIS. I present my creation, dubbed Roberta:
Considering that she brought it out to dinner with friends (prompting the nice Chinese waiter to ask the hippo what she wanted for dinner) and out to see Borat's new movie, I think the gift was well received.

The stuffed hippo was sourced from the typical places where one might source a stuffed hippo, and the farting mechanism was an electronic whoopee cushion from Spencer Gifts. I made my own pressure switch out of random bits from around the house. Some soldering, cutting, testing, and finally, velcro, brought the whole shebang together.
I'd love to buy one of these if you're up to making another one!
Hi! I love your hippo! I just watches an episode of NCIS with Bert on it, and I really want one! Do you know where to get one from? If not, you should start selling them! I googled it, but came up with nothing :o(
